5 Best Dog Grooming Clippers
Best Overall Dog Grooming Kit
Wahl Motion Lithium Ion Clippers
Editorโs Comments:
I feel confident recommending the Wahl Motion Lithium Ion Clippers because itโs the best overall dog grooming kit that I discovered. It lasts for two hours when fully charged, itโs made in the USA, it has self-sharpening blades and a powerful heavy-duty motor.
- Dimensions: 8.23 x 5.24 x 2.17 inches
- Weight: 1.12 lbs.
- Cordless: Yes
- All-In-One: Yes
- Brand: Wahl Clipper Corp.
Overall Score:
91
The Bottom Line:
This dog grooming kit is currently one of the best that money can buy. It has a five-year warranty because Wahl truly believes in their products, it has a heavy-duty motor and lots of power for cutting the thickest dog hair, and the blades remain sharp at all times.Whatโs Good
- Full charge: 2 hours
- 15-minute quick charging option
- Manufactured in the US
- Self-sharpening precision blades
- Heavy-duty motor
Whatโs Bad
- No cord
- Must recharge after 2 hours of use
- Must remove excess hair from the blade while cutting
Summary
Youโre going to love the Wahl Motion Lithium Ion Clippers because they really measure up to the competition in the most important categories.
As an example, as far as effectiveness is concerned, I consider this product the most effective dog grooming clippers on the market today. It quickly cuts pet hair of all lengths and varieties with the greatest ease. And itโs simple to use and manipulate because itโs cordless.
Next, I like these clippers a lot because they do not create too much noise and they donโt vibrate to the point where it disturbs my dog while Iโm giving him a haircut. They are quiet, mostly motionless, and easy to use.
The power level is tremendous with these clippers. They installed a heavy-duty power drive motor, which makes it perfect for cutting thick coats. It can cut through thick coats using 1.5 times regular power, which is awesome.
Although it wasnโt the best as far as battery life is concerned, it isnโt half bad because a full charge lasts for two hours. Youโll have no trouble cutting your dogโs hair within this timeframe. Youโll likely need to charge it again if youโre trying to groom multiple dogs at the same time.
And finally, this kit also comes with a lot of great accessories including multiple clips, a charging cord, scissors, a comb, a nifty carrying case, and special oil for the blade.

Ceenwes Rechargeable Cordless Dog Grooming Clippers
Editorโs Comments:
I believe the Ceenwes Rechargeable Cordless Dog Grooming Clippers are a great all-in-one option because they have a rechargeable battery, the design is lightweight and easy to maneuver, and it has a precision motor that doesnโt make a lot of noise.
- Dimensions: 3 x 9.13 x 10 inches
- Weight: 1.59 lbs.
- Cordless: Yes
- All-In-One: Yes
- Brand: Ceenswes
Overall Score:
90
The Bottom Line:
Considered top-tier all-in-one grooming clippers, this product has excellent accessories including a cleaning brush, a comb, 6 clips to cut hair at different lengths, a rechargeable power cord, a built-in lithium-ion battery, and they even give their customers a two-year warranty.Whatโs Good
- Cordless design
- Lightweight Clippers
- Low noise and vibration output
- Sharp titanium blade
- Portable storage container
Whatโs Bad
- Low power
- Blade gets stuck in far
- Clippers overheat
Summary
The Ceenwes Rechargeable Cordless Dog Grooming Clippers are a personal favorite of mine because they have the best accessories and they also measure up very well in the categories that I find most important.
Letโs look at effectiveness to start. These clippers do a great job at cutting many different types and textures of dog hair. The blades may get stuck in their hair from time to time, but you can easily take a scissor to remove the clippers and make sure you keep the blade clean so that this doesnโt become a major problem.
I love the fact that these clippers are low noise and low vibration. They are so quiet that you hardly even know that theyโre turned on. Jumpy and anxious dogs and cats will have no problem getting their haircut from these ultra-quiet clippers.
This product suffers a bit when it comes to power level. Even though itโs great at cutting hair, and itโs perfect for all hair types, it doesnโt have the most powerful motor and this is especially true when compared to some of the other clippers that Iโm reviewing today. But the motor does seem to get the job done nonetheless.
And it doesnโt have the longest battery life either in comparison, even though it has a lithium-ion battery already installed. On a full charge, the clippers will only work for 70 minutes before you need to recharge the battery again.
Lastly, my favorite thing about these clippers is the accessories. It has so many great accessories like six clips to vary the cutting length, a comb, scissors, a power cable for charging, and other great accessories as well.

Bousnic Cordless Pet Hair Grooming Clippers Kit
Editorโs Comments:
Iโm happy to tell you that the Bousnic Cordless Pet Hair Grooming Clippers Kit is the best value because they are safe, effective, and inexpensive. I also like this grooming kit because these professional rechargeable clippers are perfect for small, medium, and large dogs and cats.
- Dimensions: 8 x 2.5 x 2.25 inches
- Weight: 1.60 lbs.
- Cordless: Yes
- All-In-One: Yes
- Brand: Bousnic
Overall Score:
89
The Bottom Line:
These are very good clippers for the money and donโt let anyone else tell you otherwise. Even better, this is a complete grooming kit and itโs my favorite 2-speed cordless dog clippers on the market right now. They are easy-to-use and cut pet hair effectively.Whatโs Good
- Quiet clippers for anxious pets
- USB charger
- Complete grooming kit
- Cordless design
- Precision blade
Whatโs Bad
- Attachments get caught in hair
- Dull scissors
- Blade clogs with hair
Summary
The Bousnic Cordless Pet Hair Grooming Clippers Kit is my favorite 2-speed clippers for many reasons and it measures up well in the categories that I tested it in.
First up is effectiveness. Although these werenโt the most effective clippers that I tested recently, they did a great job cutting different types of pet hair, so they worked wonderfully in my opinion.
They really stand out in the category of noise/vibration because the noise level is contained to a mere 50 dBs or less, which means these clippers are incredibly quiet. They will not scare your overly anxious or frightened pooches.
Even though they are quiet, the 2-speed motor is a lot more powerful than you would expect. They even have a turbo setting, which makes it super easy to cut hair quickly when you need to get the job done fast.
When it comes to battery life, these clippers are actually my favorite out of the 5 pairs that I recently reviewed. They have a 2200 mAh lithium-ion battery that charges with a USB cable. The battery is strong and lasts for more than three hours after a full charge.
Finally, the accessories are okay, but they werenโt my favorites when compared to the rest. The kit has scissors and it has four different clips and a comb, but it doesnโt come with blade oil which is a little disappointing to me to tell you the truth.

Itโs my pleasure to say that I like the Wahl Home Pet Pro Series Pet Clipper Kit a great deal. It has everything you need including a power cord for charging, 4 clips, a comb, scissors, nail clippers, oil, a handy carrying case, a 5-year warranty, and a 30-day money-back guarantee too.

The Wahl Pro Series Pet Kit has a power drive system that delivers 30% more torque, which makes it easy to cut thick dog hair. It charges quickly, itโs comfortable in your hand, and when itโs plugged in you can continue using it indefinitely for non-stop clipping.Whatโs Good
- Cordless & corded clippers
- Self-sharpening blades
- Minimal noise
- Cuts thick coats easily
- Made in the USA
Whatโs Bad
- The battery only lasts 45 minutes per charge
- Works better when plugged in
- Less effective with medium-haired dogs
Summary
I believe youโll benefit tremendously from this pet grooming kit for many reasons. Itโs a great option for anyone looking for clippers that are effective at cutting thick dog coats.
From an effectiveness standpoint, these clippers really take the cake. They are great for cutting long-haired dogs and short-haired dogs and dogs with thick manes. They have a bit more difficulty when it comes to cutting medium-haired dogs, so it will likely take you a little while longer yet it will still work.
These clippers arenโt very noisy either and they do not vibrate a lot, which is perfect when it comes to giving dogs and other pets a haircut. Sometimes the strong vibrations and loud noises scare dogs and make it difficult to complete the task at hand.
From a power level perspective, you have to look at this clipper from two angles. The cordless version of these hair clippers only possesses a battery that lasts for 45 minutes. Youโll only be able to cut the hair of one dog per full charge. But you can also keep these clippers plugged in, so you can continue to cut dog hair indefinitely as long as you keep them plugged into the power outlet.
Finally, as mentioned, the battery life doesnโt last too long since the charge only holds for 45 minutes before it runs dry. Although, the accessories are pretty good because they have multiple clips, nail clippers, combs, scissors, a handy carrying case, and so much more.
Best Corded Dog Clippers
Andis UltraEdge Super AGC2
Editorโs Comments:
The Andis UltraEdge Super AGC2 is the only strictly corded dog clipper that I reviewed. Even though theyโre less convenient because of the cord, theyโre very powerful, quiet, easy to clean, and they have a heavy-duty 2-speed rotary motor to boot.
- Dimensions: 7.72 x 2.4 x 9.8 inches
- Weight: 1.70 lbs.
- Cordless: No
- All-In-One: No
- Brand: Andis
ย
Overall Score:
81
The Bottom Line:
The UltraEdge dog grooming clippers are powerful with 120 V of electricity pumping through them, they are easy to clean with their simple detachable blade design, they have a thick heavy-duty cord, and the housing is shatterproof, so you can drop them and theyโll manage to survive the fall.Whatโs Good
- All dog breeds and coats
- Shatterproof housing
- 14-inches thick power cord
- Multiple blade options
- 5-speed clippers
Whatโs Bad
- Corded only
- Frustrating customer service
- Runs hot
Summary
I consider the Andis UltraEdge Super AGC2 the best-corded dog clippers because they really do an excellent job cutting all different types of dog hair, cat hair, and other pet hair. Plus, they measured up well in all of the categories that I tested them in.
As far as effectiveness goes, I feel these corded clippers were the best out of the 5 clippers that I reviewed and they were almost perfect. They do such an amazing job cutting thick hair, fine hair, and everything in between.
Although they werenโt the noisiest clippers in the world, they were a bit louder than the cordless battery-operated rechargeable clippers. Why? These clippers have five speeds, and the faster the blade moves, the louder the clippers sound and the more they vibrate. Keep it at a lower speed if youโre cutting the hair of an overly anxious dog or another pet.
The power level is off the charts as well. You never have to worry about the battery running out, which is always a plus, and these clippers have a 5-speed motor that is extremely powerful, to say the least.
These clippers do not contain a battery, so battery life is irrelevant. But please realize that they are corded, which makes them a lot less portable than the other clippers on this list.
The same holds true with accessories. These clippers do not come with any accessories. They have an adjustable blade that gives you the ability to choose how long or short the hair will be while cutting, but there arenโt any other accessories at all. In truth, they arenโt needed.
Buying Guide To Selecting The Best Dog Grooming Clippers:
Are you on the hunt for the best dog grooming clippers? Itโs important that you know what to look for if you venture out on your own to choose clippers besides the 5 that I recommended above. There are important categories to focus on as youโll learn below.
Yetโฆ
You may think it best to choose dog grooming clippers without any assistance at all. You may not want my influence affecting your judgment and thatโs perfectly fine in my opinion.
But consider this for a momentโฆ
Do you know the specific criteria to look for when choosing new clippers? When I reviewed the top 5 best dog grooming clippers above, I focused my testing on the 5 criteria below:
- Effectiveness
- Noise/Vibration
- Power Level
- Battery Life
- Accessories
Why did I choose these categories? They appear to be the most relevant category for dog clippers. If the clippers fall short too often in any of these categories, they arenโt worth your time, money, or attention.
With that said, letโs get startedโฆ
Effectiveness
How is it possible to determine effectiveness when looking at a product?
Past customer history is a great place to start. Many previous customers like to share their thoughts and feelings about a particular product online. Youโll learn the good, the bad, and the ugly this way.
Personally testing products is also a great way to determine effectiveness. I always test each one of the products that I review for at least 2 weeks to a month before I make my final determination.
When thinking of effectiveness, consider the following questions:
- Do the clippers cut all types of dog hair?
- Are they good at cutting thick hair?
- Can they effectively cut fine hair?
- Are customers happy with their overall performance?

Noise/Vibration
At first glance, you likely wouldnโt even consider whether a particular pair of clippers are noisy or wonder if they vibrate a lot. But this is a rookie mistake that many unsuspecting victims make and itโs unfortunate, which is why I wanted to tell you about it today.
Do you have an anxious dog? Is he or she scared of loud noises? Would your pup freak out over a vibrating pair of clippers?
Itโs unfortunate but many pet owners find out their dogs are afraid of loud noises and vibrating clippers the hard way. They have to spend their hard-earned money, only to discover that the clippers they picked out arenโt ideal for their pooch.
If you have an anxious pup, consider choosing clippers with low noise and low vibration output to help preserve their sanity and yours as well.
See how all of these dog grooming clippers stack up against each other in the Noise/Vibration category:
Power Level
Some clippers are a lot stronger than others, which is why itโs important to pay attention to the power level while making your final choice.
How strong is the motor? Is it a heavy-duty motor known for durability? Will it provide enough power to cut the extremely thick hair that your dog has?
Is it a multi-speed motor? In some cases, you may have more than one dog. And one of your dogs might have very fine hair that you need to cut at a slower power level and speed. And on the other hand, you may have a dog with really thick hair that requires a lot more speed and power.
Depending on your situation, you can either get a multispeed pair of dog grooming clippers and choose the perfect all-in-one device, or you may prefer to buy more than one pair of clippers that are specifically designed for each of your dogs.
The choice is yours, so Iโll leave it up to you.

Battery Life
Definitely take battery life into consideration when choosing a new pair of cordless rechargeable clippers. Again, you may need clippers with a powerful battery that lasts a long time if you intend to cut the hair of multiple dogs in one sitting.
Believe it or notโฆ
When you choose clippers with excellent battery life โ somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-5 hours of juice โ youโre choosing clippers that are typically more powerful than the ones that have weak battery life. So thatโs something to keep in mind as well when you come to your final decision.
Some questions that I typically ask myself include:
- What type of battery is it?
- Is a rechargeable battery installed in the device?
- Do the clippers use regular AA or AAA batteries that burn out quickly?
- How long will the battery last with a full charge?
See how all of these dog grooming clippers stack up against each other in the Battery Life category:
Accessories
Last but not least are the accessories. In some cases, it might make more sense to cut the very thick hair off of your dog using a pair of scissors and a comb.
Does the dog grooming kit have a sharp pair of scissors and a stainless-steel comb? Is everything made of plastic or is it a higher-quality material?
At the end of the day, buying a dog grooming kit makes sense if itโs filled with high-quality accessories including sharp scissors, a stainless-steel comb or even a sturdy plastic comb, oil for the blade, a carrying case, a brush to clean hair out of the clippers, multiple clips to cut pet hair at varying lengths, and other needed accessories as well.
Read remarks from other customers to see how they felt about the accessories. Were they worth the money? Were they high-quality items? Consider these questions when making your final choice.

Best Dog Grooming Clippers FAQs:
Is It Okay to Groom Dogs with Human Clippers?
So many people ask this question, but the truth is itโs not okay to use human clippers when youโre grooming your dog. Dogs have very distinct fur and they need special clippers to effectively cut their hair.ย
Human clippers could also potentially damage your dogโs skin, which would lead to wounds, injuries, and possible serious infections. Another factor to consider is allergies, which can be triggered by human clippers as well.
Dogs have very sensitive skin, so you need to choose the best clippers for their body type. Dog clippers should possess the following attributes:
- Sharp blades โ the blades of dog clippers must be sharper than the blades on your human clippers
- Power level โ dog clippers require more power than human clippers because dog fur is a lot thicker than human hair in many cases
- Blade teeth โ the teeth on dog clippers need to be wider than the teeth on blades of human clippers for maximum effectiveness
- Clipper blades โ you need a greater number of blades for dog clippers as opposed to human clippers
How Can I Cut My Dogโs Hair If My Pooch Is Afraid of Loud Noises?
On the surface, this definitely seems like a difficult dilemma. But there is a very easy solution to your problem.
Did you know that they have low noise and low vibration dog clippers? You can find them for sale in your favorite pet store or your favorite online retailerโs website.ย
Look for clippers that specifically say they make very little noise and very little vibration on the packaging.
Or if you preferโฆ
Try a different tactic to calm your nervous dog. Use essential oils like chamomile and frankincense to calm down your furry friend prior to cutting his or her hair.
Which Clipper Blades Are Ideal for Grooming Dogs?
After reading about the best dog grooming clippers, you undoubtedly have a specific look or style that you would like your dog to showcase once you cut his or her hair. But not all dog grooming blades are created equally.
To achieve what youโre trying to accomplish, please consider the following types of blades to meet your specific hair cutting needs. The sizes include:
- Size 10 Blade โ this dog grooming blade is perfect for general hair trimming. Itโs also an awesome blade to use when attempting to cut the hair between your dogโs paws.
- Size 40 Blade โ I like using this particular size blade when Iโm grooming the hair on my dogโs face and ears. This is an exceptional size for this job in particular.
- Size 30 or Size 50 โ these blade sizes are ideal for cutting dog hair when the hair is very short.
- Fine Tooth Blades โ these blades are perfect when youโre trying to give your dog a very smooth and sleek look.
- Size 10-15 โ the ideal sizes for the base of the tail, the feet, and the face.
- Size 7F โ wet this blade when youโre attempting to groom a dog with a very matted coat.
- Sizes 3, 4, and 5 โ these sizes are best to use when youโre shaving the legs and body of your dog
Scissors โ please use scissors instead of your clippers when youโre grooming the tailpiece and topknot of your dog.
