How do you feel about bringing your dog to the groomers?
Is it fun or worthwhile experience?ย
Is it a major hassle?ย
Or is it too expensive?
Many people have given up on the dog groomers altogether because times have changed and the quality of the newest dog clippers means itโs possible to cut your poochโs hair at home.
In other instances, it just became too expensive to take your dog to the groomers every three months or so to cut his or her hair. It almost costs as much as a trip to the beauty salon.
After a while, youโve come to realize that giving your dog a haircut isnโt too difficult as long as you have the right tools at your disposal. Your pooch is relatively calm and easy to manage, so youโre ready to give this haircutting thing a try just to see how it goes.
Before you can begin, youโll need to secure the right dog grooming clippers to make your life a whole lot easier. And while youโre at it, you might as well get an entire grooming kit that comes with combs, scissors, plastic clips, and other important accessories.

Our Verdict: Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper Kit
Letโs get into it right away:
First things first. I want you to know straight away that I think the Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper Kit is an excellent clipper. I wouldnโt even have wasted my breath writing this review if I thought they werenโt good enough. Please note that I only review the best products with outstanding reputations that also pass my five-category tests.
And as I mentioned above, the Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series clipper impressed me so much that I consider it the Best Dog Clippers for Thick Coats because it can shear through thick dog fur with the greatest of ease.
Moving alongโฆ
From the looks of things, the Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper Kit struggled in a couple of key categories, but at the same time, they are incredibly effective. They have a really strong motor that they call their patented power drive system. This delivers 30% more torque, which makes it possible to quickly cut through thick coats of dog hair as comfortably and quickly as possible.
The Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper Kit is also a good choice because they do not make a great deal of noise. And as we all know, noisy clippers can create a negative experience for anxious dogs. This wonโt be a problem with these clippers.
The power level is intense, which is exactly whatโs needed from a pair of clippers intended to use to cut thick coats of dog hair. The strong motor will trim right through your dogโs coat without any difficulty because it was designed to shear through thick pet fur.
This isnโt my favorite pair of clippers as far as battery life goes. The charge doesnโt last too long, although itโs effective enough when cutting the hair of one dog, it likely will not take you any further.
The accessories are also pretty great. The Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper Kit comes with a lot of extra accessories including a handy carrying case, four clips, scissors, a comb, blade oil, and much more. Itโs a good mix of high-quality accessories that youโll use and enjoy.
This is a well-rounded and affordable grooming kit that I recommend.

I want to make it easier so you can better understand what I look at during research, testing, and analysis.
I use a very simple overall approach when it comes to creating product reviews. For this particular set of reviews, I chose to analyze and test 5 different clippers. Every clipper that I chose had great ratings and it was designed by a well-respected brand.
I tested every one of these clippers at the same time while giving my dog a haircut. Afterward, I made notes about each pair of clippers for the appropriate categories and determined where each one ranked.

Effectiveness
The Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Complete Pet Clipper Kit performed admirably in the effectiveness category. It might not seem that way on the surface since I only gave this product 88 out of 100, which puts it in last place.
Generally, I deducted the most points for this product in this category because I didnโt find the rechargeable battery as effective. It doesnโt last very long, so I had to keep the clippers plugged in to effectively give my dog the best possible haircut while using them.
The Andis UltraEdge Super AGC2 received the best score in this category with a score of 98 out of 100. These powerful clippers can shear through all types of dog hair whether itโs thick, thin, or in between.
Maybe putting these clippers in last place is a bit unfair. I did give them an 88 out of a possible 100, which is a super satisfying grade.
Itโs just that the cord would get in my way from time to time and it made the overall haircutting experience even more difficult, so I knocked off points because of the need to keep the clippers plugged in to achieve the best results.
How the Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Complete Pet Clipper Kit stacks up in the effectiveness ratings:
Noise/Vibration
Youโd think these clippers would be really noisy since they have such a powerful motor. But youโd be wrong, believe it or not.
I gave these clippers a very respectable score of 90 out of 100, which puts them in a tie for third place. They matched up with the Bousnic Cordless Pet Hair Grooming Clippers Kit.
How do I feel about the noise and vibration level with these clippers? I was very satisfied with the overall experience.
The noise level was extremely low, which is great because it doesnโt scare anxious dogs. And the vibration level was also at a minimum, which is also a good thing if youโre cutting the hair of a pup that gets anxious very easily.
In comparison, the top-rated clippers are called Ceenwes Rechargeable Cordless Dog Grooming Clipper and they received a 98 out of 100 because they are whisper quiet.
And at the bottom of the list, I gave the Andis UltraEdge Super AGC2 clippers the worst score because the motor is pretty strong which makes these clippers louder than some of the other options, although it isnโt screamingly loud. They received an 85 out of 100.
How the Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Complete Pet Clipper Kit stacks up in the noise/vibration ratings:
Power Level
In the category Power Level, I gave these clippers the second-best score, which in this case is a 96 out of 100. I really love the power of these clippers, but you have to keep them plugged in to get the full juice because it isnโt as strong just operating off of the rechargeable battery.
The top-rated clippers in this category are the Andis UltraEdge Super AGC2. Itโs extremely rare when I give a product a perfect 100 out of 100, but these clippers are commanding and the power level is amazing.
Finally, the last place clippers in this category received an 84 out of 100. Itโs called the Ceenwes Rechargeable Cordless Dog Grooming Clipper. Itโs a really good pair of dog clippers and it gets the job done, but as far as motor strength goes itโs a little weaker than the other options.
In my opinion, the addition of the patented power drive system is what makes the big difference with these clippers. It gives them 30% more torque than average clippers and it makes them perfect for cutting dog hair when they have really thick coats.
How the Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Complete Pet Clipper Kit stacks up in the power level ratings:
Battery Life
For the Battery Life category, I had to give this pair of dog clippers a lower score than all of the other clippers with a rechargeable battery. My overall rating was 75 out of 100. And I dropped the score this low because the battery only stays charged for 45 minutes per full charge.
The highest-rated product in this category is the well-respected Bousnic Cordless Pet Hair Grooming Clippers Kit. This kit received the highest score, which is 88 out of 100. I gave it a higher score because the battery life lasts for three hours as opposed to a mere 45 minutes.
At the moment, the lowest-rated product in this category is the Andis UltraEdge Super AGC2. This is deceiving because this dog clipper doesnโt have a battery. It only operates by plugging it into an outlet.
But I had to give it a grade nonetheless to keep things consistent, so I awarded it with a 60 out of 100. I didnโt want to go too low because it would be unfair to very effective dog clippers.
How the Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Complete Pet Clipper Kit stacks up in the battery life ratings:
Accessories
In the category titled Accessories, I gave these clippers a 90 out of 100, which effectively puts them in third place. I really liked the accessories that this clipper set came with.
It has a really solid comb, a great pair of scissors, four clips to cut dog hair at varying lengths, oil for the blades, a brush to keep the clippers clean, and a few other odds and ends that were also well-made.
The #1 product in this category received a 94 out of 100. I gave this score to the Ceenwes Rechargeable Cordless Dog Grooming Clipper in case youโre wondering. It has very similar accessories to the ones in the Wahl kit, except they were a little bit sturdier and a tad better put together.
The last place product is the Andis UltraEdge Super AGC2, once again. It came in last place because just like the previous category, this dog clipper isnโt part of a bigger kit. Itโs just a clipper and nothing more. I gave it a 60 out of 100 again as well just to give it an actual score for the overall rankings.

Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper Kit FAQs:
Does The Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper Kit Heat Up After Extended Use?
The razor itself doesnโt get so hot that it burns the skin. That would be insane and I would never recommend that anyone use it to cut their dogโs hair.
But I can also say with certainty that after using the clippers for about 10 or 15 minutes, you will notice the blade begins to warm up. It doesnโt get burning hot and it isnโt uncomfortable by any means. But the blade warms up nonetheless and I want to be completely transparent with all of you, so please keep this in mind.
Is The Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper A Good Choice For Cutting Thick Dog Hair?
You likely have a pup with really thick hair if youโre wondering about this question. And I have some really good news for you today my friend.
I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that the Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper Kit is amazing when it comes to cutting thick mats of fur. The power drive system is so strong because it gives 30% extra torque when compared to other electric razors.
The additional torque is the reason this motor kicks into overdrive. It can shear through some of the thickest dog hair that youโll ever see without any difficulty whatsoever. Itโs like watching a hot knife cut through butter.
How Long Does The Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper Remain Charge?
According to the manufacturer, after charging the battery to its full capacity, it will remain charged for about 45 minutes. Unfortunately, this doesnโt quite measure up to some of the other pet clippers that remain charged for 2-3 hours or longer.
Hereโs what I can tell youโฆ
If you have one or smaller dogs, you can easily cut the hair of two dogs in one sitting with a full charge. And if you have a much larger dog, the Wahl Home Pet Pro-Series Pet Clipper Kit will likely require the full charge to cut his or her hair before the battery runs dry.
Please remember that you can always keep these clippers plugged in if you need to cut the hair of multiple dogs in one sitting. The clippers work perfectly when theyโre plugged in and they will never run out of battery power as long as itโs plugged into a wall outlet.
